Eukaryotic and Prokaryotic Cells Flashcards
What are Eukaryotic Cells?
Cells that have a cell membrane, cytoplasm and genetic material enclosed in the nucleus.
What are the examples of Eukaryotes?
Animal and Plant cells
What are Prokaryotic Cells?
Bacteria cells, they have a cytoplasm cell membrane and cell wall that does not contain cellulose, the DNA loop is free moving in the cytoplasm with DNA rings called plasmids.
What is a Slime Capsule?
Outside the cell wall and to protect the organelles and to stop bacteria from drying out.
What is Flagellum?
A tail-like structure (tail) that allows the bacteria to flow through liquids, it is a long protein.
What are Plasmids?
Small enclosed loops of DNA is present in the cytoplasm in bacteria cells.
What is chromosomal DNA or genetic material?
Instead of a nucleus, there is a continuous loop of DNA freely flowing around in the cell.
Are all bacteria harmful?
No many have little effect on our body and many are useful
Do some bacteria harm us and other organisms?
Yes some can harm us, diseases can spread and it can decompose food
