have to keep responses of participants secret and can only be used for purpose of the study
Debriefing
-after the study gives full transparency of all details of the study
-addresses issues of deception, and possible harmful affects
-ensures participants leave study with no bad feelings
-uses study to educate participants
Deception
goes against the principle of consent

-researcher intentionally doesn’t want participant to know full details of study

don’t tell participants that the purpose of study is to see if staring into each others eyes increases attraction
active deception
researchers misinform participants about purpose or aspect of study

tell participants that treatment given will cure their sickness when it does not
Informed consent
-recieve all info that will allow u to fully decided if u want to participate in a study
-describe purpose of research, what will be used, how confidentiality is mandatory, how its voluntary, if they will receive money
