1976: SOPHE Code of Ethics created +later refined by member input
1984: SOPHE + AAHE form committee to review/create CoE.SOPHE accepts created code and AAHE rejects.
1993: AAHE develops own code
1994: CNHEO pursues field-wide code.
1999: Profession-wide code of ethics approved!

Role-modeling very imp. to get students to buy into CoE.
Challenges = Technology, Diversity, Confidentiality.
Issue = Many CHES don’t know about CoE. Don’t need to agree to CoE to be CHES.
Weakness = No accountability
