What is informed consent?
A
- Ppts should be aware of told aims and consequences of taking part of research

What is the right to withdraw?
A
Ppts should be told they can leave their participation in the study at any stage

What is protection from physical and psychological harm?
A
- ppts must leave the study the same state they entered the experiment (support must be offered to the ppts)
- considered ethical if the risk of harm is no greater than would be expected in ordinary life

What is confidentialty?
A
- personal data should be kept securely and not shared
- not reveal identity of ppts when published

What is debriefing?
A
- after data collected researcher should offer debriefing to reveal any information withheld such as existence of other groups.

What is privacy?
A
people do not expect to be observed (e.g. natural study)
