This is an ethical concept used to justify actions that have both a positive and a negative effect. According to this principle, an action with both good and bad outcomes can be ethically permissible if certain conditions are met.
Principle of Double Effect
This principle asserts that when confronted with two negative options, one should choose the option that causes the least harm or has the least negative consequences.
Principle of Lesser Evil
This ethical principle refers to the involvement in an action or process that is morally wrong, but where the cooperator does not share the intention of the principal agent who performs the immoral act.
Principle of Material Cooperation
This principle occurs when a person intentionally participates in or endorses the immoral act of another.
