what are situation ethics?
no 2 situations are the same, every situation requires a different decision
what is the contractarian view to animals?
that everyone has their own right to their view, however in society we need to cooperate. however animals cannot make agreements, so we have an indirect obligation to help
what is the utilitarian view to animals?
animals deserve welfare, killing should be humane - greatest good for the greatest number
what is the relational view to animals?
we have a higher responsibility for domesticated animals because we re closer to them
what is the animal rights view?
no right of inhumane treatment of animals.
animals and humans should have the same rights
what is the respect for nature view?
all species should be preserved
what is speciesism
prejudist or bias in favour of ones own species
what is a moral dilemma?
a conflict between actions, with either outcome leading to a moral transgression
what is the relationship between professionalism, ethics and law
all depends on society, the vets expectation, the vets judgment, self determiation, RCVS code, Veterinary surgeons act of 1966
what is consequentialism and give an example
right and wrong is depended of the the consequence of the action
ex) Utilitarianism
what is Deontology and give an example
right and wrong comes from the action itself
ex) Kantian
