Informed Consent
A
- The participant must be voluntary, must fully understand their involvement and the aim the study
- They should know what tasks they’ll be exposed to and know how their data will be used
- If a participant is a minor, consent should come from parents / guardians

Protection from Harm
A
- Participants should be protected from both mental and physical harm at all times

Anonymity and Confidentiality
A
- Usually in research studies, participants will give their information to researchers
- However that should remain fully confidential
- No one should be able to trace back to the participant’s identity

Withdrawal from Participation
A
- Participants should be able to leave or withdraw from study at any time

Deception
A
- This is when the true aim of the study cannot be revealed as it would influence the results

Debriefing
A
- Once the study is finished, all participants should be fully informed about the aim + results
- They should be given the opportunity to review and withdraw any personal data they want

Data Fabrication
A
- Shouldn’t be done (duh)
- When you invent, change, or makeup data to fit your hypothesis

Plagiarism
A
- shouldn’t be done :)
- Presenting other’s work as your own

Publication Credit
A
- Authorship should accurately reflect the relative contribution of all authors

Sharing Data for Verification
A
- Researchers should not withhold data used to reach their conclusion
- If other researchers want to check the data, it should be shared immediately

Handling Information
A
- Generally, just be sensitive of what information you’re sharing, and how it may affect the participant, their family and life, or society in general
