What is a lack of informed consent?
All participants have to agree to take part after being told exactly what will happen in the research through a form.
What is a lack of protection from harm?
Some experiments my harm participants such as embarrassment, distress, guilt. The risk of harm should be no more than everyday life.
What is deception?
Participants must be aware of what the study is for and what will happen, ensuring they don’t walk away believing they have done something that they haven’t.
What is condfidentiality?
Participants have the right to control information about themselves and have their data protected.
What overcomes the problem of Deception?
A debrief is given to participants at the end covering any details not given at the start, as well as ensuring them that their behaviour is normal and providing counselling if needed.
