AIM- Affinity Interrelationsship Method. A management tool for brainstorming technique.

AIM consist of 10 steps in teams of around 5 - Team should preferably have people with diverse background.
- Preperation of team and space
- Formulate the question to adress - not to narrow not to wide.
- Warm up - aligning. Everyone express thought on question 5min.
- Collecting data - 19-24 post-it with causes for the issue
- Clarifying the meaning - go through the post - its one by one and clarify the meaning if needed. otherwise risk of rubbish in rubbish out.
- Grouping - silently organise and reorganise - until consensus is reached - the post-is in groups of max three. Give them a heading that sums the idea of the underlying post-its. There can of course become som lone wolfs.
- Higher level grouping - do grouping again but not use the potential group heading as base.
- Show connections - draw arrows to determine if something is an effect of something else, interrelationship.
- Final Layout - move groups and draw final arrows to organise the chart so that it is easy to communicate
- Evaluate - deside on what level to evaluate and assign weights - without being biased so everyone should decide without knowing the others - to the worst three causes using dots of different colour.
- concluding sentence . summarise the question and the conclusion you have made in one sentence and write in the top corner before signing the chart at the bottom right.
Outcome: Can be used in context of learning cycles, PDCA
Can be used to create awareness of an issue or an understanding of the root cause of a problem
