What issues does ergonomics deal with?
Ease of use, comfort and safety.
What is the importance of anthropometrics?
It helps designers make an ergonomically good design, and often helps with sizing the product correctly.
Why does a designer refer to average sizes found in anthropometric studies when designing a product?
As it is their job to ensure that the product will fit the majority of the population.
Why does anthropometric data often ignore the top 5% and the bottom 5%?
Because there is simply too much variation in the human form and it is nearly impossible to produce a design which suits everyone.
What is the remaining data called?
95 percentile anthropometric data.
