Equilibrium Flashcards
Using A, B, C and D, explain dynamic equilibrium
Rate of A and B decreases with time
Rate of C and D reaction increases with time
Eventually rates of two reactions will become equal
A and B will be converting into C and D at the same rate the opposite is happening
Define dynamic equilibrium.
Rate of forward reaction is equal to rate of the reverse reaction
Define reversible reaction
Chemical reaction in which the reverse reaction contributes a significant amount4
What is the main factor that effects reaction rate?
The higher the concentration, the higher the reaction rate
What is the equilibrium constant Keq?
It states where the equilibrium of a reaction lies at a given temperature
What does a larger K value indicate?
The more of C + D are produced and the reaction is favoured going to the right
What Keq value indicates the reaction favours the products?
Keq > 1000
What Keq value indicates the reaction favours the reactants?
Keq < 1000
