- sublimitation

Sublimation- diversion into acceptable outlets of unacceptable impulses
Denial- behaves they do not know something that they might reasonably be expected to know
Identification- unconscious adoption of characteristicsc or activities of another person. Mechanism to reduce pain of seperation or loss.
Rationaliation- false but acceptable explanation for behaviour is offered
Reaction- adoption of behaviour in opposition of one’s true feelings
malingaring:
no stable housing or income. No physical or imaging findings and insist to be admitted- seeking secondary gains (meals, room to sleep in)
conersion disorder:
anifestation of psych illness as a neuro pathology. Weak, numb, blind, paralysis not bothered by their symptoms’ la belle indifference’
factitious
munchausen
hypochondirasis
- Factitious- taking on the sick role to be cared for
2 . Munchausen syndrome- seeking sick role through a second patient. Mother suffering from factitious disorder will abuse child so she can bring the child to dr for tx.
- Hypochondriasis fear of having medical illness. Not for any 2’ gain.
regression
an ego defence where we revert into immature behaviour in the setting of stress. e.g. act like a child/temper tantrum
Capgras syndrome
Capgras - patient believes that a closely related person (usualy their loved one) has been replaced by an exact double
Othello Syndrome
Otherllo- a delisuional belief that their partner is cheating on them despite no proof. acuse patners, test, stalk, seek evidence to confirm their delusion
affects males more than females
threatening towards partner/stalk/ have them followed
Cotard’s syndrome
Cotard- severely depressed or suicidal. intense nihilistic delusions (belief that themselves / part of their body is dead or decaying)
De Clerambault’s syndrome
De Clerambault syndrome: erotomania. belief that somebody is deeply in love with them e.g. sport star/ TV / movie actor. believes they are infatuated with them and cannot live without them.
Ekbom syndrome
belief that their body is infested by insects or animals when it is not. ‘match box’ sign- patient presents with a matchbox containing a few pieces of dirt or fluff that they suggest is evidence of infestation.
Willis-Ekbom disease is restless leg
Fregoli syndrome
single persecutor impersonates several people familiar or not familiar to the patient.
