Thyroid follicles
Ducts of exocrine glands
Kidney tubules
Where may you find simple columnar?
Stomach lining Gastric glands Small intestine Oviducts "stomach to anus"
Where may you find pseudostratified?
Lining of nasal cavity, trachea, bronchi
Epididymis
Mostly ciliated
Where may you find stratified squamous?
Oral cavity Oesophagus Larynx Vagina Anal canal
Where may you find keratinised stratified squamous?
Surface of skin
Some areas e.g sole of foot have thicker keratinisation
Where may you find transitional?
Renal calyces
Ureters
Bladder
Urethra
What are microvilli?
Apical extensions of the cell to increase surface area
What are sterocilla?
v. long microvilli, shape maintained by actin filaments
Found in inner ear and epididymis
What are villi?
Thin extension, of many cells like a rainbow
What are cilia?
Motile, hair like extensions, rapid oscillation
