27th Amendment

13th Amendment
(Lame Duck Amendment) shortened period between
presidential elections and inauguration, changing the
dates of a President’s term
20th Amendment
Says someone from one state can’t sue another state, overturning Chisholm v. Georgia
11th Amendment
Changed the electoral college so the electors cast separate votes for President and VP, effectively allowing the President to choose his VP. This happened to fix a situation that resulted in a tie in the election of 1800 because electors used to cast 2 votes for President with 2nd place becoming VP.
12th Amendment
Established the direct election of senators (instead of being chosen by state legislatures), giving more power to the
people
17th Amendment
Amendment which ended the Prohibition of alcohol in the US, repealing the 18th amendment
21st Amendment
Gave women the right to vote (suffrage)
19th Amendment
Presidential Succession; Vice Presidential Vacancy (says
if the President dies, the VP takes over and gets to choose
his/her new VP)
25th Amendment
Limits the president to two terms after FDR had been
elected 4 times
22nd Amendment
Gave 18 year olds the right to vote
26th Amendment
Banned poll taxes, expanding the right to vote and increasing political participation for African Americans
24th Amendment
The 3rd Post-Civil War amendment, it gave former slaves the right to vote by saying MEN of all races could vote
15th Amendment
The 2nd of 3 Post-Civil War amendments, it made defined who was a citizen, including former slaves, and said everyone was equal under the law
14th Amendment
Let residents of Washington DC vote for President
