peroxidase extracted from turnip extract
How was guaiacol used to track product formation and estimate reaction rate?
guaiacol is oxidize H+ ions as it absorbs light and peroxidase is reduced so product formation can be tracked
Effect of Enzyme Concentration on Reaction Rate
if enzyme concentration increases, reaction rate increases
if enzyme concentration decreases, reaction rate decreases
Effect of Substrate Concentration on Reaction Rate
if substrate concentration increases, reaction rate increases
once all enzymes have bounded, the increase of substrate will have no effect anymore
Effect of Temperature on Enzyme Reaction Rate
as temperature increases, rate of reaction increases
once it gets to high temperature, it denatures
Competitive Inhibitor
interfers with active site of enzyme so substrate cannot bind
Noncompetitive Inhibitor
allosteric inhibitor changes shape of enzyme so it cannot bind to substrate

a linear relationship between an independent (x) and dependent (y) variable
Exergonic Reaction
energy is released from the reactants resulting in a low value of products
Endergonic Reaction
energy is added to the reactants resulting in a high value of products
