What is tracheostomy indicated for?
Chronic otitis media with effusion (>3 months)
How does a laryngocele present?
When it penetrates the thyrohyoid membrane, it is a lateral neck mass that inflates with Valsalva

What causes acquired cholesteatoma?
Chronic middle ear disease, which forms retraction pocket in tympanic membrane that fills with granulation tissue and skin debris
May manifest as continued ear drainage for weeks despite appropriate antibiotics
What is the most common cause of nasal obstruction in children?
Adenoid hypertrophy –> mucopurulent nasal discharge bilaterally
What does mucormycosis do to the nasal turbinates?
Invasion of blood vessels by fungal hyphae –>
ischemia (white nasal turbinates)
necrosis (black nasal turbinates)
