  • Limit to what they would allow the King to do.
  • Most were Anglican, concerned about the spread of Catholic/dissenting ideas.
  • Dec 1662, Charles makes Declaration Of Indulgence, allowing peaceful religious practice.
  • Feb 1663, Parliament delayed a vote and forced him to abandon it.

  • Feb 1664, Charles proposes changed Triennial Act (only has to call parliament every 3 years, but cannot force him to).
  • Parliament agree in March 1664.
  • Nov 1664, Oct 1665, Parliament grants 2.5m to fight the Dutch, in exchange, Charles passes the Five Mile act.

  • Passed the 1668 Conventicles Act, fining those in non-Anglican meetings.
