- Used high explosive and napalm bombs.

- Painted planes, banned Russian radio speak, and wore Chinese uniforms.
- South-Allied lost 3500, North-Allied lost 3000.
How did peace talks progress? What did they agree on, in the end? (AS 1.3)
- July 1951: Talks begin, cannot agree.
- November 1952, Eisenhower replaces Truman, eager to end war.
- March 1953, Stalin dies. NK/China lose confidence.
- July 1953: Peace treaty divides the two independent countries, along the 38th parallel, with a 3km demilitarised zone.
How did weapons build up during the war? How much did the us spend on the war? What were ICBMs? (AS 1.3)
- US had more bases outside the US. USSR/USA developed quality and quantity of nukes. US produced 100 more nukes.
- 14.1% of their money per year was spent on the war.
- ICBMs were nukes that could travel continents.

- USSR and China cancelled Korean debt and sent financial aid.
- 80% of government and military buildings destroyed. Half of housing, most of transport destroyed.

- Containment had worked to an extent.
- Soldiers killed or wounded. Billions spent, and NK still not ‘saved’,

- Their role was strengthened. USSR returned to organisations.
- Failed to unite Korea. Viewed as controlled by the USA.

- Relations with China.
- Tensions with USA rose, expensive arms race began.

- Relations with USSR.
- Lost all trade and relations with USA. Failed to win South Korea.
