Engines Flashcards
EEC ON (in view) light means what?
EEC control trims the fuel flow for limiting N2 RPM when engine is about to hit a thrust mode limit
EEC OFF (On not in view) means what?
Hydromechanical fuel control schedules fuel flow.
How many EECs are there?
2
What are the two modes of the EEC and their protections?
Normal: Protects Overboost and Overspeed Sets N1
Alternate: Protects Overspeed Only- Sets N1
If you have to switch to alternate by checklist- HARD transition
I did it because of the checklist telling me to do it
What is a Soft Transition?
Airplane did it-EEC went from normal to alternate automatically due to boeing logic
IF you make hard transition from normal to alternate-
checklist will tell you to pull throttle back so you don’t overboost the engine because you don’t have that protection anymore
What is Overspeed Protection?
RPM protection:If you lose control of the engine – will have Protection of RPM in Normal mode. The EEC will take fuel away from fuel metering unit to make sure you don’t hit 117.6 on the red tick. Red tick (117.5) on the N1 gauge. Max N1 RPM
What is Overboost Protection?
Power Protection: Provides relationship between N1 and power
EEC Provides Atmospheric Compensation, what does this mean?
- Compensates for the atmospheric conditions in change in altitude
EEC provides Bleed Compensation what does this mean?
- turning on engine and wing anti ice, EEC compensates for the air being bled off engine by giving more thrust
EEC provides Auto Relight what does this mean?
as my engine spools down EEC sense engine going below idle N2 rpm- provides auto relight and both ignitions come on to keep engine running. BOTH ignitions fire to keep your engine running.
More joules.
EEC is responsible for Approach Idle what does this mean?
Put in higher RPM if I have to do a go around I can make the cert. limit.
When am I in approach idle?
Flaps 25 or 30
Engine Nacelle Anti Ice On
Continuous Ignition Selected
When am I in minimum idle?
All other phases of flight
