Brakes & Braking Flashcards
Disarming of the auto brakes occurs when the pilot does the following…
Disarming occurs when the pilot does the following:
· Applies manual braking with toe brakes.
· Advances either thrust lever after landing
· Moves the speed brake lever to DOWN detent after speed brakes have deployed on the ground
· Selects the DISARM or OFF position
When does the amber VALVE light turn on with the RESERVE BRAKES and STEERING
If the switch is off, the VALVE light comes on if the isolation valve is not in the commanded position of the automatic isolation.
If the switch is on, the VALVE light comes on if the isolation valve is not closed.
BRAKE SOURCE light on the Center Forward Panel means
That both Normal and Alternate brake system pressures are low. Normal & Alternate brake systems aren’t available.
In this situation, Accumulator brakes remain available.
What situation makes the Reserve Brakes become active?
- Selection of RESERVE BRAKES AND STEERING switch
2. Low center fluid quantity when alternate brakes are active.
If I have right hyd system and normal brakes what else do I have working on my behalf today?
Autobrakes
What kind of anti-skid do I have with normal brakes working?
Normal Anti Skid with Every Individual Wheel
If I sense a skid I apply them to each wheel
Loss of Right Hydraulic Fluid so system is lost. Fluid is gone. Normal brakes are gone so alternate brakes are powered from center hydraulics. How do you know if this was sucessful?
There won’t be a display of a BRAKE SOURCE light
between Captains standby
What kind of anti skid do you have with alternate brakes?
Paired Anti Skid
Tandem Wheel Pairs
Skid is sensed on tandem wheel pairs
Effective but not AS effective
Loss of center hydraulic system what light will come on?
Brake Source- I now have no normal or alternate brakes now due to insufficient hydraulic fluid :-( I now only have accumulator brakes.
With Brake Source Light on what brakes do I have left?
How many applications do I get with these?
Accumulator brakes
Several
Why Do I need a dry long runway when I’m on accumulator brakes?
So my anti skid doesnt cycle and take away my precious brake pressure that would give me several applications.
Antiskid is normal- sensed on every wheel and application on every wheel. On a wet runway this would bleed pressure quickly.
Where does fluid come from for reserve brakes and steering? Hope you didnt lose the fluid trapped below the standpipe, why?
Center Hydraulic
That fluid is used for reserve brakes and steering.
Accomplished by turning RESERVE BRAKES AND STEERING switch ON.
Brake source light would go out meaning you’re going to be able to stop
Anti Skid used with Reserve Brakes and Steering?
Alternate Anti Skid Sensing & Application
Having accumulator brakes means what to me?
I have several applications of pressure to stop the airplane. I’m using pressure that is trapped in the normal hydraulic system that is trapped by check valves (3000PSI) by the check valves. Need to land on dry long runway.
What anti skid do I have with accumulator braking?
Normal Antiskid Sensing
Normal Antiskid Application
