Engine Fire Detection
- ESS powered
- 2 fire loops in each engine (gaseous-type)
- Both loops must detect an overheat to get a fire indication unless one loop is inop
How many bottles
- 2 fire bottles 1 shot per bottle
- Both shots can go in one engine or just one
Fire protection powered by
HOT BATT BUS powered
When the fire handle is pulled
- Fuel valve is closed
- Hydraulic valve is closed
- Bleed valve is closed
APU Fire detection
- ESS powered

How many fire bottles does the APU have
- 1 fire bottle
APU fire sequence
- APU EMER STOP button RED light illuminates
- Memory item complete APU EMER STOP BUTTON PUSH IN (WHITE light illuminates and RED light extinguishes)
- APU FIRE EXTINGUISHER button illuminates
- In the event the memory item is NOT completed, the APU EXTINGUISHER button will illuminate after 60 seconds of having an APU fire indication
Smoke detection
- Each compartment has independent smoke detection system
How man smoke detectors
- 3 forward smoke detectors
- At least 2 must be in agreement in order to generate FWD CARGO warning / same as AFT CARGO
- After smoke is detected, air circulation fan automatically turns off and the ventilation outflow valve closes
Cargo compartment how many bottles
- 2 fire bottles
- Able to extinguish in either of the compartments
Smoke indication in flight
- Push button 1st time - high rate bottle fires then low rate bottle fires after 60 seconds
Smoke indication on ground
- Push button 1st time - high rate bottle fires and low rate bottle arms
- Push button 2nd time - low rate bottle fires
Smoke indication in flight
- Push button 1st time - high rate bottle arms
- Push button 2nd time - high rate bottle fires
- Push button 3rd time - low rate bottle fires (if not pushed will fire after 60 seconds)
No Smoke indication on ground
- Push button 1st time - high rate bottle arms
- Push button 2nd time - high rate bottle fires and low arms
- Push button 3rd time - low rate bottle fires
- The high-rate bottle will fire for a period of 60 seconds
- The low-rate bottle will fire for a period of 60 minutes
Lav detection
- 1 smoke detector in each lavatory
Nav fire protection
- 1 fire bottle in each waste container (forward and aft nav)
- Wax plug melts at a given temperature to discharge the bottle

What happens if you hold the fire test more than 10 seconds?
- If APU is running it will shut down.
