Energy Systems (1) - 13% Flashcards
What is Energy?
The capacity to do work (work = force x distance moved)
What are the six types of energy?
Heat Chemical Electrical Electromagnetic Nuclear Mechanical
What is the laws of Thermodynamics?
Energy can neither be created nor destroyed but only change from one form to another.
What is Catabolism?
The breakdown of energy into nutrients realising free energy and electrons.
What is Anabolism?
The bonding of electrons and protons, turning small molecules into larger ones.
What 5 functions in the human body energy required to preform?
Cell transportation Cell growth and repair Temperature regulation Nerve stimulation Muscular contraction
What three energy systems does the body use?
ATP - Immediate
Glycolysis System - Short term
Aerobic System - Long term
all three do not operate sequentially bit all operate simultaneously.
Watch youtube video on the reactions needed to form each system
