What is a hormone?
A peptide or steroid produced by one tissue and conveyed by the bloodstream to another to effect physiological activity, such as growth or metabolism
Where is the pineal gland found?
In the posterior part of the epithalamus
What hormone does the pineal gland release?
melatonin
What does melatonin regulate?
The circadian rhythm (sleep cycle)

What hormone do the ovaries release?
estrogen

triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4)

parathyroid hormone
What is the function of the parathyroid hormone?
Maintains calcium, phosphorus, and vitamin D levels
