Arm Muscles Flashcards
Origin of the biceps brachii
Short head: Apex coracoid process
Long Head: Supraglenoid turbercle
Insertion of the biceps brachii
Radial tuberosity (biceps tendon) Deep fascia of anterior forearm (aponeurosis)
What does the biceps brachii do?
Powerful flexor of elbow joint
Supinates the forearm
Weak flexor of shoulder joint (has small effect because it crosses over the GH joint anteriorly)
What innervates the biceps brachii?
Musculocutaneous (C5, C6, C7)
Origin of the corocobrachialis
Coracoid process
Insertion of the corocobrachialis
Middle third of medial surface of humerus
What does the corocobrachialis do?
Flexes arm
Adducts arm
Stabilizes glenohumeral joint
What innervates the corocobrachialis?
Musculocutaneous (C5, C6, C7)
Origin of the brachialis
Distal half of humerus
Insertion of the brachialis
Coronoid process of ulna
What does the corocobrachialis do?
Flexion of the elbow
What innervates the corocbrachialis?
Musculocutaneous nerve
Origin of the triceps brachii
Long Head: Infraglenoid tubercle of scapula
Medial Head: Posterior surface of humeral shaft, below radial groove
Lateral Head: Posterior surface of humerus, above radial groove
Insertion of the triceps brachii
Olecranon process of ulna via common tendon
What does the triceps brachii do?
Extends the elbow
