Hypothalamus
Located in cerebrum. Monitors body conditions. Hormone releasing hormones
Pituitary gland (master gland)
Anterior
Responds to hormones from the hypothalamus. Releases stimulating hormones, prolactin,ACTH, and luteinizing hormones.
Pituitary gland (master gland)
Posterior
Responds to nerve impulses from the hypothalamus. Secretes ADH (vasopressin) and Oxytocin.
Thyroid
Has two lobes. Produces T3 and T4 to control metabolism. Produces calcitonin to lower blood calcium levels which is stored in bones.
Parathyroid
4 small lobes on posterior of thyroid in an H shape.
Secretes pth which increases blood calcium levels.
