Total thyroid w central neck dissection
Place nerve stimulating monitor, visualize ETT placement to make sure leads line up w cords.
Place shoulder roll w neck in extension.
Mark cricoid cartilage and sternal notch.
Incisions two finger breaths above sternal notch
Raise subplatysmal flaps
Dissec in media raphea between strap muscles
Dissect anterior surface of thyroid gland using energy,
Ligate superior and inferior thyroid artery preserve superior and recurrent laryngeal nerves, and parathyroids.
Divide ligament of berry.
Central node dissection with removal of all fibroadipose tissue between the carotid sheaths from hyoid bone to brachiocephalic vessels.
FNA Biopsy
10-millimeter syringe with 22-guage needle
Aspirate the mass several times under ultrasound guidance and send to pathology
