Endarterectomy Treatment

Narrow carotid artery -
Treat with meds first or carotid arteries then do this
Gen anesthesia
Small incision in neck - dissect out carotid artery and temp place small clamps on carotid artery to stop blood flow - open up - remove plaque - sew back up with fine suture material and restore blood flow to brain
In hospital overnight; maybe additionally day
Recovery 1-2 weeks - recovery at home
Care mostly surgical team but also neuro ICU - BP and post-op pain
