1 ELT that we can take with us in case of an emergency. Manually activated. Not the same as the aircraft ELT.

What is a Low Frequency Underwater Beacon LF-ULD?

A

It is a separate battery powered underwater locator beacon usually mounted in the ray dome which activates on impact with water. It is separate from the pinger beacon on the FDR/CVR unit. It has a 6 year shelf life for the internal battery just like the battery on the CVR/FDR pinger battery.

A

Powered from first engine start to 5 mins after the last engine is shut down.

What is CVR RIPS?

A

It is a back up power supply for the cvr incase all electrical power is lost. It has its own battery pack and it will also extend the cvr recording time to 10 mins after the last engine is shutdown instead of the normal 5 mins.
