Emergency Drugs Flashcards
Arrhythmias
A variation from the normal rhythm.

Chelating agent
An agent used in chemotherapy for metal poisoning.
Crash cart
A stationary or mobile cart stocked with supplied, equipment, and drugs for use during an emergency.
Diuretic
A drug used to promote urine excretion.
Emetic
A substance or drug that induces vomiting.
Inotrope

Methemoglobinemia
The presence of methemoglobin in the blood caused by injury or toxic agents that convert a larger-than-normal proportion of hemoglobin to methemoglobin, which does not function as an oxygen carrier.
Triage
Process of sorting patients in an emergency based on medial priority. The goal is to quickly and systematically evaluate an animal for their injuries and determine which body system or which animal needs attention first.
