EMBRYO exam 1 Flashcards
Neural crest cells form
sensory ganglia
Alar plate develops into?
dorsal horn- receives sensory input
Basal plate devlops into
ventral horn- motor neurons exits to muscles
dorsal ramus innervates
back muscles and skin of the back
ventral ramus innervates
limbs and everything else
spina bifida occulta
failure of the vertebral (neural) arch to form; covered dorsally by skin sometimes tuft of hair
spina bifida - meningocele
failure of the vertebral (neural) arch to form; covered dorsally by skin and meninges protrude outward forming a cyst
spina bifida- meningomyelocele
failure of the vertebral (neural) arch to form; covered dorsally by skin , meninges and neural tissue/spinal chord protrude outward dorsally forming a cyst
Spina bifid- myeloschisis
neural plate doesn’t fold or complete fusion dorsally/ exposed spinal cord
sclerotome development of spinal column
c1 somite form cranial half of c2 vertebrae… it splits to allow innervation in between vertebrae and muscle attachment to two different vertebrae
klippel-feil syndrome
process of resegmentation by sclerotome is incomplete resulting in fused vertebrae
rib sclerotome of cervical form what
anterior tubercle
rib sclerotome of lumbar region
transverse process
rib sclerotome of the sacrum region
ala (lateral part)
sternum derived from
lateral plate mesenchym (mesoderm not sclerotome)
pectus carinatum
pectus protrudes
