What is terotogens
any environmental factor which can interfere with prenatal development and leads to birth defects
examples of terotogens
ionising radiations
noxious chemicals
certain drugs
certain infectious disease (rubella)
exposure to terotogens at what stage of prenatal development is most dangerous
exposure to terotogens during embroyonic stage is harmful as major organs are forming at this time

CMV - sexually trasmitted
can be aysmptomatic
1% of pregnant women

hearing loss

interferes with limbs - shortens legs and arms
shown to npw inhibit growth of blood vessels
now used in cancer treatments
