  • activating event (getting fired at a job, friend passing you in a hallway and ignoring you)

  • beliefs/ your interpretation of the event either rational or irrational (i.e the company has always hated me, my friend may be busy or the friend hates you)

A
  • the consequence
  • rational beliefs lead to healthy emotions (acceptance/ I’ll speak to the friend)
  • whereas irrational beliefs lead to negative emotions (depression/ I’ll ignore my friend and delete her number since she does not want to speak to me)
