What does the A refer to in the ABC model?
A
- activating event (getting fired at a job, friend passing you in a hallway and ignoring you)

What does B in the ABC model refer to?
A
- beliefs/ your interpretation of the event either rational or irrational (i.e the company has always hated me, my friend may be busy or the friend hates you)

What does the C stand for in the ABC model?
A
- the consequence
- rational beliefs lead to healthy emotions (acceptance/ I’ll speak to the friend)
- whereas irrational beliefs lead to negative emotions (depression/ I’ll ignore my friend and delete her number since she does not want to speak to me)

A
Thinking that certain assumptions or ideas must be true in order for an individual to be happy
