If you are required to go onto the line and prepare a Unit what safety requirements must you observe to ensure your own safety
You must be in possession of your PTS and SCWID cards. You must wear your H.V. Vest and keep to authorised walking points

Check that the Door Control Switches are switched off. Check for any Defect, check the Defect Repair Book and make sure that the Cabs are secure

Check that the Unit/Cab had Detonators and Red Flags also check that there are Track Circuit Operating Clips. Check that the Fire Extinguisher is fit for use. Check the Defect/Repair Book for any defects, also set up NRN Radio for use

Check that the Tail Lights are illuminated.
Check that the Destination Screen is illuminated and showing the correct destination.
Check that the End Gangway Door is locked and secured
If preparing a train for service at a Depot or Stabling point describe the procedure you would undertake for identifying the location of the unit?

How would you carry out a Power Operated Door Test on a Class 15X & 170/4 Unit at a Depot.
Release all the doors on both sides of the train by using the Door Control Panels at one end of the train. Open the adjacent doors by use of the Local Door Switches and then walk through the train opening and closing all the doors by use of the Passenger door buttons also check that the Orange Hazard Lights on the outside of the train are illuminated. Return to the Door Control Panels and close the doors, then check that the Door Interlock has been made by use of the Bell/Buzzer Communication
