If a train is to move more than a 1/4 mile in the wrong direction what Headlights/ Marker/Tail Lights must it display
A White light at the leading end and a Red at the rear
If a train is to move Less than a 1/4 mile in the wrong direction what Headlights/ Marker/Tail Lights must be displayed.
No change to the light settings. But authorisation must be agreed with signalman and it must not involve setting back over an AHB crossing.
If a Customer operated the Pass-Comm on your train what action would you take
Identify the affected vehicle, identify the reason and re-set the Pass-Comm, obtain the passengers name and address and that of any witnesses. Submit a Report at the end of your shift
If any vehicles or trains are required to be left on the Running Line what must you do
Ensure the Signalman is advised
When your train is running in the wrong direction on the opposite Running Line what must you advise customers
Advise the customers that the Stations will be on the opposite side from normal
On departing a Station Platform when working a 15X or 170/4 Unit what action would you take

How would you identify a Pilotman
Red Armband with “Pilotman” in White worn on left arm or Red Flag worn on left arm
When would the Pilotman inform you that single line working had been introduced
When it has been introduced in a Emergency and your train is to run in the wrong direction on the opposite running line

Contact the signalman and obtain his assurance that adjacent lines are closed to traffic.
After finishing work on the outside of the train what should you do
Again contact the signalman to inform him that this work is complete and the passage of trains may be resumed.

That Maintenance or Cleaning Staff are on-board and that the train must not be moved

When checking the serviceability of a 15X, 170/4, or Class 318 EMU unit what would you check in the vestibule areas
Check that the Door Control Panels are closed also check the Emergency Equipment Cupboards are locked
When checking the serviceability of a 15X, 170/4, or Class 318 EMU what would you check in the passenger Compartments
Ensure that the Heating & Lighting is working, also check the condition of the Toilet and the Cleanliness of the Unit
If you discovered that lighting or heating was not working on a coach prior to departure what would you do
Request Maintenance Staff to attend
If you discovered that there was a fault on a Unit that was not serious, and Maintenance Staff were unable to attend what would you do
Enter the defect into the Repair Book and hand the White Slip to the Platform Staff or direct to the Traincrew Supervisor
When checking the serviceability of the train what are you checking at the rear of the train
Tail Lights are illuminated, Destination Screen is illuminated and showing the correct destination. The Gangway Door is closed and locked
When checking the serviceability of a 15X, 170/4 and 318 EMU what would you check in the rear Cab
Check that the Cab has Detonators and Flags. Check that Fire Extinguishers are in place and sealed. Check that Track Circuit Clips are in place. Also check that the NRN Radio is set up. Check the Repair Book for any defects.
How soon should train crew be in attendance at a train prior to departure
At least 5 minutes
What information must you check with your Driver before working a train
You must confer with the Driver as to the Calling Points of the train and any other information which may affect the working of the train
