Element 4 Colour Light Signalling Flashcards
How is the Distant signal identified in Track Circuit Block Areas
A Plate with a signal number and the letter ‘R’ next to the number, or a Plate with a white triangle on a black background with the signal number
What indication can a Distant signal not display
A Stop indication
Where Position Light signals are mounted one on top of another how are these read
Top to Bottom, Left to Right
If a Position Light signal is placed below a Main Aspect and is showing two white lights at 45 degrees what does this mean
It means that the Main Aspect can be passed at danger for shunting purposes, or to proceed towards the next stop signal or buffer stop, being prepared to stop short of any obstruction, as the section may be occupied
If a Position Light signal displays two red lights horizontally what does this mean
Stop / Limit of Shunt
What is the “Stop” indication of a Position Light signal
A Red and White light horizontally displayed, or two red lights horizontally displayed.
What is the “Proceed” indication of a Position Light signal
Two White lights displayed at an angle of 45 degrees
Where Junction indicators are provided on a Signal Post how are these read
Top to Bottom, Left to Right
How is an Automatic signal operated
By the Passage of trains
How is an Semi Automatic signal operated
By the Passage of trains by the Operation of Ground Frames or by the Signalman
How is a Controlled signal operated
By the Signalman
How is a Semi-Automatic signal identified
A White Plate with a Black Horizontal Strip with the word SEMI written above it
How would you identify a Controlled signal in a Track Circuit Block Area
A Plate showing the signal number, attached to the Signal Post
How would you identify an Intermediate Block signal
A White Signal Post Plate with a Black Vertical Stripe
After receiving one Flashing Yellow what indication would the next signal show
A Steady Yellow with a Junction indicator
