Q

Electron in Shells

A

Each shell can hold a different amount of electrons.

In the first shell, it can only hold 2 electrons but in most other shells, the maximum is 8.

Q

Predicting an electronic configuration

A

As atoms have equal amounts of Protons and Neutrons, using the atomic number can help predict how many electrons can fit into each cell and make their electronic config.

Q

Links to the Periodic Table?

A

The number of shells correlates to the period the element is situated in.

The number of electrons on the last shell correlates to the group.

The total number of electrons correlates with the atomic number of the element.
