Covalent Bonding Flashcards
1
Q
What is Covalent Bonding?
A
A covalent bond is formed when a pair of electrons is shared between two atoms, usually non-metals.
2
Q
Molecules
A
A molecule consists of a group of two or more atoms joined together by covalent bonding.
3
Q
Properties of Simple Molecular Substances
A
Low Melting and Boiling Points: there are intermolecular forces (weak attractive forces between molecules) between the molecules, which means that it does not require much energy to break.
Conducting: Simple Molecular Substances have no overall charge and therefore no charged particles that can move to spread electricity, regardless of its state of matter.
