Electricity And Electrical Equipment Flashcards
What is direct current?
An even flowing current that travels in only one direction producing a chemical reaction.
What is alternating current?
A rapid and interrupted current flowing in one direction and then in the opposite direction,
producing a mechanical reaction.
What is an electrode?
Is an applicator for directing the electric current from the machine to the client’s skin.
What is polarity?
Indicates the positive or negative pole of an electrical current
How is the positive electrode called (red)?
Anode.
How is the negative electrode called (black)?
Cathode.
What is Galvanic current most commonly used for?
Product penetration.
What is Faradic current most commonly used for?
To tone the facial muscles.
What is Sinusoidal current most commonly used for?
To tone the facial muscles.
What is the Tesla high frequency current most commonly used for?
To sooth or stimulate the skin.
What are some contraindications for treatments with the use of currents?
Clients who are pregnant, suffer from seizures or epilepsy, asthma, high blood pressure, metal
implants.
Describe Argon gas - (violet ray):
Germicidal. Commonly used on acneic, congested, and combination skin conditions.
Describe Neon gas - (orange ray):
Product penetration, stimulation, blood circulation. Commonly used on mature, dehydrated, and
dry skin conditions.
Describe Micro current:
Low grade electrical current.
Describe Iontophoresis:
Low grade electrical current.
