What is an argument?
A series of claims, called premises, intended to logically
support another claim, called the conclusion.
The difference between a positive and negative argument.
A negative argument that attempts to show something else is wrong while a positive argument is an argument for something.
What is Kantianism claim
Treat others with respect not just as mere tools and do not do anything that you would not endorse everyone doing which means you have to imagine a world were everyone is doing it.
What is Utilitarianism claim
Do the thing that would cause the least pain and most pleasure for the most amount of people.
What is Feminist Care Ethics claim
We need to take into account those who we have strong relations with.
What does Virtue ethics claim
You should have a role model.
Is morality objective or subjective according to the book?
Objective because subjective morality is based on opinion therefore anything that anyone believes can be morally correct.
Problem with Kantiansim
It gives wrong results sometimes.
Problem with Utilitarianism
You could do the right thing for the wrong reason.
Problem with Feminist Care Ethics
It does not tell us what to do.
Problem with Virtue Ethics
You are not really following virtue ethics if you take something that are good about a person and leave out others.
What is the goal of an argument by analogy.
To show that two ethic cases are morally similar in a relevant way.
