- Moyrihan (1965) - the ‘main problem’ is the family structure in black families.
- Charles Murrey (1984) blames single parent families, saying lack of a male role model is to blame for lack of discipline.
What did Driver and Ballard (1981) argue about Asian success?
Explained that Asian parents place more value on education, supporting children.
What did Ruth Lamptom (2004) argue?
That Asian households often have greater authority over children and respect is given to elders.
What did Steve Hastings (2006) argue about class affecting education more than race?
Low income white boys perform worse than black/asian children from 11-16.
What did Becker (1971) note?
Labeling theories based on how teachers label differently based on ethnic background.
