an individual or households income and economic well-being.
Positive home environment
money for social activities, cleaner housing conditions and bigger houses
Negative home environment
unhygienic, unsafe, don’t attend school and smaller houses
Poverty
(definition)
when resources are below your minimum needs
example - not being able to heat your home, pay rent or buy essentials
Who’s most likely to be at risk?
people with no qualifications, health challenges, no access to the internet, families with more than one child and don’t have access to transport to go to jobs or drop children to school
The causes
low paid or unemployed or trauma and chaotic lives
Growth and development
Physical - in infancy it’s associated with a low birth weight, shorter life expectancy and a high risk of death in the first year of life
Intellectual - not have a good education
Emotional - impact an individual’s self esteem and increase social isolation
Social - unable to afford many things like social activities meaning individual’s will not socialise
