What is the role of ECO?
A
- Monitor BA team
- Updates relevant persons such as IC
- Wears black and yellow chequered tabard
- Enter time on each tally
- Enter tallies and bracket
- Overwrite tallies with name and set number
- Take up suitable position
- Annotate name stage and ECP
- Syncronise clocks
- Check cylinder contents
- Work out time of whistle also elapsed time if initial deployment
- Identify team leader
- Indicate location of team/write down brief
- Get comms with BA team and maintain comms with them
- Return tallies to BA wearer when off air and recieve debrief

Name some of the criteria when siting a BA entry control point?
A
- Close to incident yet at safe enough distance.
- In safe air
- In position where you will not need to move if something deteriorates.
- A focal point for BA wearers

Name criteria for stage 1.
A
- BA operations is limited and not complex
- No more than one BA ECP
- Requires no more than 6 wearers in the risk area at any one time.
- BA guidelines not required.

When can initial (rapid) deployment be carried out?
A
- When IC has carried out sufficient assessment as to whether the risk reward is worth it.
- Opportunity to preserve life or to prevent a situation getting worse.
- As soon as resources come available, stage 1 must be implemented to ensure control.
- They are to also ensure they mark the board themselves and update the time.
- No more than 2 BA wearers can be in the rapid deployment at one time.

What are the things to note when taking over the ECO board from initial deployment?
A
- Check the time and work put time of whistle
- DO NOT remove the tallies
- DO NOT reset deployment clock until that crew has withdrew.
- Write initial deployment in remarks
- Write down TOB and time
- Fill in location of team

What is the criteria for Stage 2?
A
- Nature of BA is complex and requires more degree of control and supervision.
- Requires more than 1 BA ECP.
- Requires more than 6 wearers to be deployed to the risk area at one time.
- BA guidelines are required.

When is it possible to be in modified stage 1 / single BA wearer?
A
- Operations not working within a building or structure
- Undertaking low risk activities
- BA wearer gauge is checked and their cylinder contents recorded.
- Has to place tally in BA entry control board.
- Can always be seen by IC or nominated crew member

When is the emergency team committed?
A
- Any team fails to exit by time of whistle.
- DSU is heard unless by accident
- Audible or visual suggest BA wearer is in distress.
- Prolonged breakdown in comms
- Requested by BA wearer in the risk area.
