What are the duties of the BA team leader?

A
  1. Receive and confirm brief
  2. Co-ord gauge checks and be at ECP before whistle.
  3. Monitor working conditions and risk assess progress (STAY,ADVANCE,WITHDRAW)
  4. Provide regular updates to ECO.
  5. Decide when to withdraw from risk area

What is the initial entry

A

Temporarily withdraw, do no remove masks or close down cylinder, do not collect tally and immediately revisit risk area. Minimum of 150BAR pressure. No fresh records required by ECO

What are the new entry details?

A

Withdraws from risk area, close down set, accept tallies, service set, changes cylinder and does general check. New brief needed to carry out the new entry. Fresh records required on ECO

What are the guidelines for re entry.

A

Come out of risk area and closed down set yet have no changed cylinder. For a CLEARLY DEFINED SPECIFIC TASK such as isolate the electrics or bring in hose reel etc. All wearers are fit for duty, minimum of 150BAR. All wearers are to be sufficient for task with regards to health and cylinder contents.

What are the ECO considerations for re entry?

A

Writes re entry in remarks, work out time of whistle for 150BAR, writes 150 on cylinder column on tally, IC should try to allow rest before re entering.

When would you partially remove BA set in a risk environment?

A
  1. For self rescue in extreme circumstances where the risk of entrapment is worse for the BA wearers.
  2. Egress through restricted opening and no other safe routes available.

What is the process of going through a hole?

A
  1. Is it big enough (Comms to ECO)
  2. Check integrity with feet.
  3. Check gauge for pressure
  4. Remove set and package (stow excess)
  5. Remove helmet and pass through hole
  6. Feet first face down
  7. Pull set through
  8. Replace helmet
  9. Unpackage and replace set back on
  10. Check gauge, comms to ECO and proceed
