Aszu wines spend 18 months in barrel with 3 months total aging. Szamorodni, Maslas, and Forditas wines are aged for 2 years with 1 year in barrel

When aszú grapes are brought in their puttony, there is a tiny fraction of syrupy free run juice that is vinified separately from the rest of the tokaji. This wine can take up to a decade to ferment to miniscule amounts of alcohol (1.2-8%) The wine has a minimum RS of 450g/L but can even reach upwards of 800g/L

This translates to “as it comes” and is produced from a mixture of aszú and non aszú grapes.
The wine is often oxidative in style and sometimes is aged under a film of yeast similar to flor
