Primorska (Primorje)
borders Friuli in Italy. Best red and white in country. Mild, mediterranean. Ales Kristancic is star producer. Crosses border to Italy for half his harvest. Italian counterpart Josko Gravner does the same.
-Varietals are renamed: Refosco->Refosk, Ribolla Gialla->Rebula; Pinot Grigio->Sivi Pinot
-International are common. Cabernet grapes and Merlot. Some indigenous, Pinela and Zelen (Verduzzo Gialla relative)

Posavje, Eastern boarder w Croatia.
-Smallest of the three.

Podravje, Northeast –7 subzones, produces whites mainly
-Laski Rizling (Welshrisling), Diseci Traminer (Gewurztraminer), Renski Rizling (Riesling), Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc.
