Primary Responses
1) Dominican Republic provided emergency water, heavy machinery and search rescue underneath the rubble
2) most people however had to dig rubble by hand
3) Medical teams treated the injured (temporary field hospitals were set by organisations such as Red Cross)
4) United Nations troops and police sent to distribute aid and keep order

1) Schools are being built
2) ‘Cash for work’ programs for Haitians to clear rubble
