Cerumen
The buildup of cerumen in the ear canal to the point of being unable to visualize the TM.
Cerumen Impaction
Infection of the outer ear canal. Also known as swimmer’s ear as this condition is common among swimmers.
Otitis Externa
How is Otitis Externa treated?
With antibiotic ear drops.
Infection of the inner ear. Common in children.
Otitis media
How is Otitis Media treated.
PO antibiotics
The external part of the ear, also called auricle.
Pinna
Ringing or buzzing in the ears.
Tinnitis
Also known as the ear drum.
Tympanic Membrane (TM)
Protruding or outward curve of the TM. Usually indicates pressure, inflammation, or fluid behind the TM.
TM Bulging
Redness of the tympanic membrane, usually indicates an ear infection (otitis media).
TM Erythema
What does TM erythema usually indicate?
Otitis media (infection of the inner ear)
