An enlargement or bulging of the aorta, usually due to weakening of the aortic wall. Associated with an increased risk for an aortic dissection.
Aortic aneurysm
Condition in which the arterial wall of the aorta splits or tears; can lead to death if not treated immediately.
Aortic dissection
What should you be concerned about if a patient c/o a tearing sensation in her/his back?
Aortic dissection
Procedure used to diagnose and treat heart conditions such as narrowed or blocked blood vessels.
Cardiac catheterization
Pain caused by too little blood flow, usually occurs during exercise, generally effecting the leg.
Claudication
Enlarged heart.
Cardiomegaly
Ultrasound of the heart, used to examine movement of the heart.
Echocardiogram
Presence of an extra third or fourth heart sound resembling the sound of a galloping horse.
Gallop
Inflammation of the heart muscle.
Myocarditis
A heart attack not seen on the EKG which is diagnosed by an elevated troponin level in the blood.
NSTEMI (Non ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction)
PAC
Premature atrial contraction, can be visualized on an EKG.
