1919, At the time it was led by Anton Drexler
What did the DAP do in 1920?
They announced their 25 Point Programme and changed their name to the Nationalist Socialist German Worker’s Party (NSDAP, or Nazis)
When did Hitler become leader of the Nazis?
29th July 1921. He also set up the SA at the same time
When was the Munich Putsch?
8th and 9th November 1923
What happened during the Munich Putsch?
Hitler and General Ludendorff (with Kahr and Lossow) hijacked a government meeting in a beerhall in Munch, the next day Hitler and 3,000 men marched on Munich, the SA took over government buildings, 16 Nazis were killed, Hitler escaped but was then sent to prison
How long was Hitler given in prison?
5 years in Landsberg Prison, but he served 9 months
How many seats did the Nazis get in the 1924 elections?
14 and 32
When was the SS created and the swastika made the emblem of the Nazis?
- The SS were elite to the SA, who were enlarged at the same time as the creation of the SS
What did the Nazis do in 1925 in terms of their policies?
They abandoned more radical policies or altered to make themselves more popular, e.g. confiscation of firms is altered to only apply to Jews

By 1928 the more moderate parties had 126 more seats than the radical parties and the Nazis got less than 3% of the vote (12 seats)
