The Medici family
Family in Florence that focused on banking. They started the modern-day bank and were very popular. They supported the arts.
Florence
Towards the middle of Italy. Used to be known as the capital for banking because of the Medicis.
Humanism
Pretty much just philosophy. No god, no book. Just living a good life. (Philosophically)
Thomas Aquinas
Tried to mix Christianity and Philosophy.
Rennaisaince
The period of time when art in Europe and especially Italy became popular. Artists like Leonardo Da Vinci, Michaelangelo, and William Shakespear were from this time.
Leonardo Da Vinci
Famous artist. Mona Lisa. Starry night.
Michaelangelo
Other famous artist. He sculpted some. Also painted some.

The printing press
Device used to print books. Used by assembling metal shapes into what was needed. Used for a while and popularized religion because people could now afford bibles.
Martin Luther/95 thesis
Martin Luther didn’t like Catholicism. So he posted 95 reasons why on a door to a church. Started the Protestant reformation. Pretty cool dude.
Protestant reformation
When everyone realized that Catholicism is a bit messed up and started becoming other forms of Christianity like Baptism, Lutherism.
Henry VIII/Church of England/Mary I
Henry VIII wasn’t getting a divorce from the Pope because he had already done it a bunch, so he did the only reasonable thing… He raged and split England from Catholicism. He called their new church the Church of England. His daughter, Mary I didn’t like this, so she started killing a bunch of people who supported her father. A little extreme.
St. Ignatius/Jesuits/council of Trent
People didn’t like the fact that the protestant reformation happened, so a bunch of people gathered together to try and figure out how to stop it.
Elizabeth I/Spanish armada
Spain wasn’t happy about England not being Catholic. And the ruler at the time, Elizabeth I was. So Spain sent a bunch of ships to go kill Elizabeth. Somehow England won.
